About

We have been working hard to bring our luxury camp to the public for over 3 years. With conditions found nowhere else in the world it was hard to find the right mix of everything to build a natural and comfortable setting in a place that is so wonderful.

What to expect from a luxury tent camp

Expect a relaxing quiet place to wind down from regular life on the mainland or from a long day exploring the island. Things are different “off grid”. We use solar for our power, outdoor gas grills for cooking. We catch, filter and purify our rain water.

Your luxury tent is furnished with a queen size bed, a bathroom with shower. wireless internet access (if you bring your laptop), Lana’i with tables and chairs. Cell phone reception is available.

What about the area? Wa’a Wa’a, in the lower Puna district

Wa’a Wa’a is off the grid on an unpaved road (Old Government Road, Beach road, kings trail, it has many names!) that runs along the coast from Kapoho to lovely Hawaiian beaches and beyond (it is part of the ancient trail that circles the island, but it can not be driven the whole way of course). There are many organic farms in the area and lots of fantastic coastline to explore. It rains at night and sparkles during the day with abundant sun and calming tradewinds. Our luxury campis 3 miles from some of the best snorkeling on this side of the island, only 30 minutes from both Hawaiian Volcano National Park and Hilo, and 15 minutes from Pahoa, a small quite village that has great restaurants, and stores carrying what every you need for your island vacation. There are wonderful restaurants and delightful character in the village of Pahoa.

Drive through Old Mango Trees

Drive through Ancient Mango Forest

Old Government Road is one of the most amazing scenic drives on the Island. You pass through an impossibly old Mango forest with trees over 200 years old. Reciently protected, the drive is passable, but rough, in any rental car. Take it slow and you’ll be fine.

*Our tent camp is still in the concept stage and not currently open. We hope to open someday, but we are currently closed until the economy has rebounded. Please contact for more details.
